Emily Drinker's Latest, "Enough Is Enough" Is an Anthemic Ode to Self-Respect

The start of quarantine saw a slow-burning, atmospheric single from Emily Drinker called “Starting to Feel.” With her second release of the year, she’s completely flipping that gentle vibrato on its head and delivering a powerhouse, feel-good song, “Enough Is Enough.”

It’s a high-strung, anticipatory track with a subtle start and then a chorus that crashes in and snaps the listener out of their self-doubt. With lyrics that play on more apparent themes like moving on from a toxic relationship and rediscovering one’s self-worth, nearly every song I listen to these days finds some way to fit into a pandemic-shaped lens. The lyrics also hint at letting go of anything in life that feels too heavy. It could even be about shaking out of the stagnancy of quarantine and attempting to get back to your life. With a powerful, guitar-heavy build and a big-band feel to the soundscape, this song feels anthemic in its overcoming.

Drinker hasn’t sat very still over the last few months, and it shows. She’s managed to play various benefit shows, both online and in person. She is currently hosting a livestream series called Every Cent Concerts where she highlights various local artists and proceeds go toward the performers.

You can find the song below, or anywhere you stream music.
