"Whatever Comes Next" is Lady HD's Nostalgic, Temporal Reintroduction

After a long hiatus, Lady HD is starting to kick off their three-part Chifa EP with the single “Whatever Comes Next (NOCANDO)” and an accompanying video. The track details the fluidity of life, the consequences that our decisions have, and the beauty of an uncertain future. Singer Ciaran Wall expertly blends his South American roots with his passion for ‘70s era rock in order to evoke a sort of specific nostalgia.

With an ominous, echoing introduction that glistens with keys and synthesizers, “Whatever Comes Next” listens like a step back in time. With vocals that somehow feel both distant and personal, they manage to mirror the song’s overall theme of connection - and subsequent lack of it. It’s a very, “whatever will be, will be” kind of message, and that easygoing persona is quick to pick up on in both the band’s content and style. Lady HD is an elusive character, and I think that’s intentional. Starting their reintroduction with a video that doesn’t even feature their faces, as well as the traditional Chifa mask that Wall wears while performing, all factor into the idea that Lady HD is less of a band and more of an entity, an idea.

The Chifa EP includes singles that will be released every two weeks with music videos to accompany each. You can watch the video for “Whatever Comes Next (Nocando)” below, and stream the track here, or wherever you find music.
