Locals Foxtrot & the Get Down are no strangers to the Philly music scene. Their debut LP, Roots Too Deep, released in February of 2017, and a six month cross-country tour followed. However, they always find their way back home, because in August they basically lived in a Philadelphia recording studio finalizing a series of new singles. You can listen to the first track, "Shine," here.

Foxtrot has this really great stage presence, so fun and moving, and their modern blues rock sound instantly draws the listener in. Manayunk native and frontman Colin Budny has a voice reminiscent of an old school grassroots rocker, and backing vocalist Erica Ruiz compliments his voice with her soulful soprano harmonies throughout each song. It's always a great time when they roll through Philly, and they love playing in the city just as much as the city loves them.

The band played Milkboy on Chestnut Street on November 4th to celebrate the release of "Shine." along with a few other never-before-heard songs. Before they took the stage, we were really vibing with Asbury Park natives Deal Casino. They had this kind of TTNG look to them, something I appreciated. They were a really fun, lost-in-your-feels alt band, and I definitely would like to see more from them. Lionize completely shifted gears from the chilled out indie band to a crazy tech-inspired set. They definitely got the crowd going by the time Foxtrot took the stage.

These guys are such a sweet group, forever grateful to anyone who has ever seen them play, and that kindness is totally evident in their performances. They're so happy onstage, and you can really feel the love they all have for each other. I love bands like that. They played several favorites from their first LP, Roots Too Deep, and even ended with an impromptu Gorillaz cover of "Clint Eastwood."

Be on the lookout for Foxtrot & the Get Down when they roll through Philly next.
